This large annexe with a total size of 61.05m2 sits in the back garden of a Felixstowe home just a few miles from the coastline and the Felixstowe ports. The annexe allows the grandparents to be closer to the family home, and to help take care of the grandchildren by making the school runs and babysitting when possible.
Project – Felixstowe
External Area: 61.05m2
Due to some health issues, this family decided to move their grandparents nearer to home. To do this, they asked our company to build a Granny Annexe in the back garden. Having an annexe built is cheaper than purchasing a new home (in some areas) and comes without many of the trials and tribulations that go with it, such as not having to pay stamp duty. All our annexes are built to your exact requirements to suit your family needs.
Our clients found that by having their Granny Annexe and moving closer to the family home, allowed them to take care of their grandchildren whilst also having their own space to relax and live.
This particular annexe is of a substantial size at 61.05m2 for its external area, yet it still fits rather neatly into the family’s garden without imposing on the remaining space. The front of the annexe has 2 sets of windows as well as a set of french doors and a single door, these all allow light to fill the kitchen/lounge area creating a bright and airy space. A pitched roof allows the annexe to have a vaulted ceiling. The ceiling in this annexe sits at around 3.4-3.5 meters high creating a very open space throughout the annexe.
This stunning and roomy annexe has a kitchen/lounge a spare study/bedroom, main bedroom, wet room and utility room. We installed the kitchen which includes units, worktop, sink, oven, hobs and extractor. We also installed the wet room with white tiled walls, electric shower, w/c, wash basin, water heaters, extractor fan and a shower seat.
Our Granny Annexes are made from structurally insulated panels (SIPs). These are manufactured in our warehouse specifically for your annexe. They are then delivered to site where one of our dedicated build teams will assemble your annexe. SIPs panels provide great insulation, keeping you warm all year round and attributing to a lower heating bill. They also allow our annexes to be constructed very quickly, within 5-7 weeks, weather permitting.
Our clients wanted a traditional feel to the exterior of their annexe and chose to have a coloured render finish with brick quoins (brick slips applied to the corners). We offer a variety of finishes to our annexes, so you can choose your desired exterior finish.
