Planning, Elderly Relatives
Project – Devon
The family wanted a Red Cedar timber clad Granny Annexe in a more compact size to fit the space within their garden and it’s natural surroundings. Mr and Mrs Tinnion’s elderly father chose to live in the Granny Annexe so he could be close enough for them to care and look after him when needed.
The 24m2 Granny Annexe has an ensuite bathroom with a double shower, vanity unit with a sink and toilet. Our standard white kitchen units and black stone satin work top were fitted without a washing machine and an oven, so that clothes can be washed and meals could still be cooked and eaten within the main home. The open plan living area meant that a single bed could also be fitted within the Granny Annexe, as well as a sofa and television.
Overall, the flat roof and Red Cedar timber style gives a contemporary-lodge feel to the Granny Annexe, whilst choosing french doors and large windows bring in lots of natural light.
