With Covid restrictions a little uncertain in the future now could be a good time to book a Site Survey in order to get the ball rolling with the design and planning of your Granny Annexe. That way we will be able to start the process of getting your project off the ground, and you can be safe in the knowledge that we are taking care of every detail, whatever decisions might be around the corner
We are still able to provide a free site survey in the garden within all the government guidelines, our absolute concern is for the health and safety of our customers and staff so would like to reassure that we will be taking all considerations necessary in order to maintain a 2-metre distance. All the surveys can be carried out from the outdoor environment of your garden with entering your home kept to a minimum.
We are also able to offer a free virtual site survey, taking place over Skype, Zoom, Facetime or telephone, allowing us to discuss with you in detail about the annexe project you had in mind and for us to understand more about your needs and requirements.
In a site survey, we are able to make a detailed assessment of your garden, taking measurements and understanding how the new property will be positioned in relation to the main house. After which we will have time to have a detailed discussion about your requirements and the type of annexe building you had in mind. All of the annexes we build are bespoke and designed around our customer’s unique needs. You might have questions about layout, exterior finish, windows and doors, kitchens and shower rooms, all of which we are happy to discuss in detail with you.
It is also a great way for us to get to know each other and for us to leave with a clear understanding of not just the building plot, but also the personal reasons behind taking on such a special project. We will be able to understand any health issues, mobility access necessities, and personal preferences for how the building should work for you, our aim is to create the perfect building for the needs of our customers and getting these factors perfect is something we take very seriously indeed.
After the site survey is finished we start the hard work and our team of in-house designers start designing your new annexe based on your unique requirements. Within a few weeks you will receive a special package in the post that will contain :
- An itemised quotation
- A 3D exterior CAD drawing of your Granny Annexe in situ
- An interior floor plan
- A garden aspect plan showing the services.
After this, you will have many questions and perhaps want to tweak and make changes to the design. This is, of course, no problem, in fact, you have up to 3 sets of changes with no extra charge, allowing us to get the design just right.
Planning is also something that can be taken care of. We offer our customers a dedicated planning service at a small extra charge, meaning that we take on all the stress and hard work of the planning process. With our years of experience dealing with annexe applications, we will give you the best possible chance of getting approval. We have been successful in gaining permission for hundreds of annexes over the years and know the delicate requirements for each stage of the process inside out.
Now is also quite a good time to start the process of planning, as case officers are working from home and are fully set up to deal with these types of applications. Once restrictions are lifted further the number of applications will shoot up, so we advise customers to start the process as early as possible.
All our site surveys are free of charge and are designed around your convenience. Booking a site survey could not be easier, either call us on our freephone number 0800 334 5774 or complete our Free Site Survey form and one of our advisors will get back to you to sort out the details.
If you or a family member are in an ‘at risk’ category or are self-isolating then you also have the option of booking a Free Virtual Site Survey. A virtual survey allows us to speak to you in detail about your annexe project, via telephone, Facetime or Skype. This will give us a great idea about the type of annexe you are wanting to build and then we would ask that you send us as many photos as possible of the garden area you are wanting to build on. This together with measurements will still allow us to start the process of designing your perfect annexe.
